okay this one???

this one wins. i’m calling it now.

because i went into this thinking i was photographing a surprise proposal… and somehow ended up documenting TWO.

and the best part? neither of them had any idea.

this all took place in roanoke, illinois in the middle of a quiet wooded area — one of those spots that feels tucked away enough to make a moment like this feel really personal, but still gives us that soft light and open space to work with.

but before we even get to the actual proposal… we have to talk about the setup.

because they did not come unprepared.

candles, framed photos, florals, a custom “marry me?” sign, rose petals — everything styled so intentionally but still feeling natural in the space. it didn’t feel overly staged or forced, just thoughtful and full of meaning.

and that’s what made what happened next even better.

because when they walked up, only one of them thought they knew what was about to happen.

you can literally see it in real time — the moment it clicks, the confusion turning into realization, the emotion hitting all at once.

and then… she gets down on one knee.

everything is going exactly as planned.

until it’s not.

because before she can even fully process what’s happening, the other one reaches down, pulls out a ring that had been hidden away, and suddenly we’re in the middle of a SECOND proposal.

at the same time.

no warning. no clues. just pure, unplanned chaos in the best possible way.

i don’t think i’ve ever seen reactions like that — laughing, crying, trying to understand what is even happening while also saying yes at the same time. it was one of those moments where everything feels a little bit surreal, like no one can quite believe it’s real.

and honestly? that’s what made it so perfect.

because you can’t plan something like that.

you can plan a proposal. you can plan a setup. you can plan the timing.

but you cannot plan two people showing up with the exact same idea, ready to ask the exact same question, at the exact same time.

that kind of moment just happens once.

and getting to document it? unreal.

after everything settled (and once everyone could actually breathe again), we took some time to walk around and soak it all in. that just-engaged energy is always my favorite — when the nerves are gone, everything feels lighter, and they’re just existing in this brand new chapter together.

laughing, hugging, showing off the rings, replaying the moment over and over again.

those are the photos that always matter most.

the in-between.

the “we cannot believe that just happened” feeling.

the way they hold onto each other a little differently now.

if you’re planning a proposal — whether it’s here in peoria or anywhere nearby — let this be your sign to have it documented.

because moments like this? they go by fast.

and once they’re over, the only way you get to relive them is through photos.

i help with planning, timing, staying hidden, and making sure everything flows smoothly so you can stay focused on what actually matters.

and if your proposal somehow turns into a double proposal?

even better.
